For Mermay. I started watching Steven Universe a few months back and it quickly became one of my favourite shows It has a great cast of characters, a surprisingly in-depth amount of lore and a nice balance of comedy, drama and action, all packed into shockingly short 10 minute episodes. Throughout, it focuses on character interactions, building up on them to deliver an emotional ride, rather than resetting after any given episode. I highly recommend it!
I've wanted to draw some of the gems (and a few of the humans) for some time now, but haven't really had a chance. Decided that Mermay was a perfect excuse to draw one of my favourites, the troubled, yet caring Lapis Lazuli. She seemed to be the perfect fit for a mermaid, given her water-based powers. I had a lot of fun drawing her, so I hope you enjoy her as well. Let me know what you think in the comments!
