Description

3rd Place in the Run for the Roses event was :iconsrgntdrew:, who chose for their prize Tracer, the time skipping gunner of Overwatch fame, transforming into a centauress!

Overwatch has a lot of good character designs that I've wanted to tackle for a while now.  Had a lot of fun on her, hope to draw her again.  Thanks for the opportunity and hope you like her!

I really wanted to add a little bonus critique for this drawing. I really love the idea of it and I love the prancing pose you've gone with. I feel like the biggest problem with the pose is the balance of her body. Usually when horses are prancing they maintain an upright position, but the balance is still shifted largely forward. In this case because her legs are very straight and placed forward it feels more like the balance is shifted backwards and this makes her feel off-balance in a bad way and like she's about to fall backwards. Her legs are looking a bit off, due to the fact that they are completely covered in fur and her feet are fully hooves, but her knees still look like human knees, which makes it look like her entire lower body is equine, except for the anatomy of her legs. I don't know if you did this on purpose of if you accidentally drew her anatomy of her legs incorrectly, but either way it looks very off and takes away from the general feel of the drawing. For her front legs, since horses' legs don't leave the body from the front I would really like to see a line to show her equine chest moving into her human abdomen, with the leg clearly coming into view from behind that. This way it looks like her left front leg just errupts from her equine chest and looks quite awkward. I feel like moving the curved tail just back a little bit could differentiate it form the major body of the horse; leaving some room between these masses and improve your silhouette.

In conclusion I'd say that your horse anatomy is by far the weakest part of this drawing, so I'd advice you to tackle that first when drawing centaurs. The picture and the pose look very well though, I feel like these pointers could help you improve further to get more appeal in your drawings and a better impact on your audience.
